Commercial creatine monohydrate is typically a white to off-white powder with low odor. It is commonly sold as a fine powder, micronized powder, or larger crystals, but these are physical forms of the same chemical. Purity grades vary, and products may contain small amounts of related substances such as creatinine, dicyandiamide, or moisture. The monohydrate is often selected for supplements and research because its production is well established and its behavior in water is predictable. Analytical certificates usually report assay, loss on drying, and heavy metals.
Creatine monohydrate is a crystalline compound formed from creatine and one water molecule in its solid lattice. Creatine itself is a nitrogen-containing organic acid involved in energy transfer in muscle and other tissues. The monohydrate form is the most common solid form used in research and commercial products because it is stable and easy to handle. The term "monohydrate" refers to the fixed one-to-one ratio of water to creatine in the crystal, not to moisture content. This distinction matters when comparing labels or calculating creatine content.
In chemical terms, creatine monohydrate is often described as N-(aminoiminomethyl)-N-methylglycine monohydrate, though nomenclature varies. Its solid state consists of zwitterionic creatine molecules linked with water through hydrogen bonding. The compound dissolves in water, but dissolution rate depends on particle size, temperature, and agitation. Once dissolved, the hydrate water becomes part of the solvent, leaving free creatine in solution. The monohydrate is not the same as creatine anhydrous, which lacks the water of crystallization and has a higher creatine fraction by mass.
Several creatine forms are sold, including monohydrate, anhydrous, hydrochloride, nitrate, citrate, and blends. Once dissolved, these forms deliver creatine, but they differ in molar mass, solubility, counterions, and water content. Creatine monohydrate has the largest body of published human data among these forms. Questions remain about whether any alternative form offers meaningful advantages in absorption, tolerability, or tissue uptake under practical conditions. The hydrate form's lower creatine content by mass is a compositional fact, not a statement about effectiveness.
Creatine monohydrate is a crystalline compound formed when one molecule of creatine associates with one molecule of water in the solid lattice. Its molecular formula is C4H11N3O3, and its molar mass is about 149.15 grams per mole. The material appears as a white, odorless powder that dissolves sparingly in water at room temperature. The monohydrate designation distinguishes it from anhydrous creatine, which lacks the bound water and has a lower molar mass. This hydrate is the most common commercial form of creatine used in nutritional and research settings.

=== Signs and diagnosis of osteoporosis === Osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones become weaker due to losing bone mass or density, these bones then become more fragile which often leads to fractures of the bone. Osteoporosis is often asymptomatic until a fracture occurs. Common indicators include back pain, loss of height, a stooped posture, and fractures resulting from minor falls or movements.
== Statement == Let P be an arbitrary point inside the triangle ABC. From P and ABC, define U, V, and W as the points where the angle bisectors of BPC, CPA, and APB intersect the sides BC, CA, AB, respectively. Then Barrow's inequality states that
=== Other uses === Rhodium is used as an alloying agent for hardening and improving the corrosion resistance of platinum and palladium. These alloys are used in furnace windings, bushings for glass fiber production, thermocouple elements, electrodes for aircraft spark plugs, and laboratory crucibles. Other uses include electrical contacts, where it is valued for small electrical resistance, small and stable contact resistance, and great corrosion resistance, and filters and anodes in mammography systems that emit a lower radiation dose than comparable systems using molybdenum. Rhodium plated by either electroplating or evaporation is extremely hard and useful for optical instruments. In automobile manufacturing, rhodium is also used in the construction of headlight reflectors. Rhodium neutron detectors are used in nuclear reactors to measure neutron flux levels—this method requires a digital filter to determine the current neutron flux level, generating three separate signals: immediate, a few seconds delay, and a minute delay, each with its own signal level; all three are combined in the rhodium detector signal. The three Palo Verde nuclear reactors each have 305 rhodium neutron detectors, 61 detectors on each of five vertical levels, providing an accurate 3D "picture" of reactivity and allowing fine tuning to consume the nuclear fuel most economically.
==== Protection from UV radiation ==== Ultraviolet UV-A and UV-B radiation is harmful to living systems. An important tool used to deal with UV exposure is the biosynthesis of small-molecule sunscreens. MAAs have been implicated in UV radiation protection. The genetic basis for this implication comes from the observed induction of MAA synthesis when organisms are exposed to UV radiation. This has been observed in aquatic yeasts, cyanobacteria, marine dinoflagellates and some Antarctic diatoms. MAAs have also been identified in 572 species of other algae : 45 species in Chlorophyta, 41 species in Phaeophyta, 486 species in Rhodophyta which also present anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative and wound healing properties. When MAAs absorb UV light the energy is dissipated as heat. UV-B photoreceptors have been identified in cyanobacteria as the molecules responsible for the UV light induced responses, including synthesis of MAAs. Helioguard™365 containing Porphyra-334 and shinorine derived from Porphyra umbilicalis is already a creme on the market were developed by Mibelle AG biochemistry and shows preventive effects against UVA. An MAA known as palythine, derived from seaweed, has been found to protect human skin cells from UV radiation even in low concentrations. "MAAs, in addition to their environmental benefits, appear to be multifunctional photoprotective compounds," says Dr. Karl Lawrence, lead author of a paper on the research. "They work through the direct absorption of UVR [ultraviolet radiation] photons, much like the synthetic filters.
elegans this initiation response is amplified through the synthesis of a population of 'secondary' siRNAs during which the Dicer-produced initiating or 'primary' siRNAs are used as templates. These 'secondary' siRNAs are structurally distinct from Dicer-produced siRNAs and appear to be produced by an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRP).

=== Specific diseases === A common cause for hyperprolactinemia is prolactinomas and other tumors arising near the pituitary. These adjacent tumors, such as those that cause acromegaly, can physically compress the pituitary stalk and block the flow of dopamine from the hypothalamus to the pituitary gland, causing prolactin levels to increase. Other causes include chronic kidney failure, hypothyroidism, liver cirrhosis, bronchogenic carcinoma and sarcoidosis. Hyperprolactinemia develops in one-third of individuals with chronic kidney disease due to impaired renal clearance and regulation. Some women with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome may have mildly elevated prolactin levels. Premenstrual dysphoric disorder appears to be also correlated with elevated prolactin levels. In men, hyperprolactinemia leads to hypoactive sexual desire and, occasionally, erectile dysfunction. However, the link between erectile dysfunction and prolactin levels is not conclusive. When prolactin levels return to normal in these individuals, sexual desire fully recovers; however, erectile dysfunction only partially recovers. Nonpuerperal mastitis may induce transient hyperprolactinemia (neurogenic hyperprolactinemia) of about three weeks' duration; conversely, hyperprolactinemia may contribute to nonpuerperal mastitis. Some inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, are also linked to higher prolactin levels in certain regions.
=== Critical response === Jordan Mintzer of The Hollywood Reporter wrote that "Demoustier's depiction of the long — it took seven years from start to finish — and sordid affair behind The Great Arch's construction is a tale of lost illusions, with von Spreckelsen as a misguided genius who won the architectural lottery and wound up paying a hefty price for it. There are some clever bits of humor throughout the movie, especially involving all the shenanigans of the French, but the Dane's story ends on a decidedly dark note." For Cineuropa, Fabien Lemercier wrote that "Skilfully navigating the paradoxical dimension of his subject, tracing the path of an individual with a very human radicalism (particularly attached to hand-drawing) in the midst of a number of fairly specific professional twists and turns (regularity of joints, fixing points, foundations, support, glued glass, nitrate staining of Carrara marble, experiments, search for solutions, etc.), Stéphane Demoustier succeeds in expressing the most sensitive nuances for an uninformed audience using a patina of comedy that does not spare the French presidential royalty and its procession of senior civil servants. It's a "marriage of the dull and the shiny" that gives the film its seductive balance, its zest and its charm."
=== Primary causes === Vitamin A deficiency is common in developing countries, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Deficiency can occur at any age, but is most common in pre-school-age children and pregnant women, the latter due to a need to transfer retinol to the fetus. The causes are low intake of retinol-containing, animal-sourced foods and low intake of carotene-containing, plant-sourced foods. Vitamin A deficiency is estimated to affect approximately one third of children under the age of five around the world, possibly leading to the deaths of 670,000 children under five annually. Between 250,000 and 500,000 children in developing countries become blind each year owing to vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A deficiency is "the leading cause of preventable childhood blindness", according to UNICEF. It also increases the risk of death from common childhood conditions, such as diarrhea. UNICEF regards addressing vitamin A deficiency as critical to reducing child mortality, the fourth of the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals. During diagnosis, night blindness and dry eyes are signs of vitamin A deficiency that can be recognized without requiring biochemical tests. Plasma retinol is used to confirm vitamin A status. A plasma concentration of about 2.0 μmol/L is normal; less than 0.70 μmol/L (equivalent to 20 μg/dL) indicates moderate vitamin A deficiency, and less than 0.35 μmol/L (10 μg/dL) indicates severe vitamin A deficiency. Breast milk retinol of less than 8 μg/gram milk fat is considered insufficient.
Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) B27 (subtypes B*2701-2759) is a class I surface molecule encoded by the B locus in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) on chromosome 6 and presents antigenic peptides (derived from self and non-self antigens) to T cells. HLA-B27 is strongly associated with ankylosing spondylitis and other associated inflammatory diseases, such as psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and reactive arthritis.
After graduating in 1953 from the University of Malaya, Mahathir began his housemanship at Penang General Hospital. In 1954, he was sent to Alor Setar General Hospital before being posted to government clinics in Langkawi, Jitra, and Perlis. During his time in Langkawi in 1955, Mahathir was the island's first stationed doctor, witnessing its underdeveloped state—a memory that later influenced his efforts to transform it into a major tourist destination when he became prime minister. Reflecting on his early career, Mahathir said he prioritised work over salary, starting with MYR 400.00 as a medical officer before a promotion raised it to MYR 770.00. He then resigned to open his private practice, named "Maha Klinik" (Maha Clinic), while his wife worked as a government doctor for 25 years. Maha Klinik was the first privately owned clinic established by a Malay in Malaysia. Mahathir acquired the reputation of being a caring doctor, willing to make house calls at any hour, trudging across rice fields in the dark to treat patients. If they could not afford his fee, they settled by installments or paid what they had. He was the town's first Malay physician and a successful one. He built a large house and employed a Chinese man to chauffeur him in his Pontiac Catalina (most chauffeurs at the time were Malay). Mahathir and Siti Hasmah were also involved in welfare and public health activities.

It is a solid form of creatine that contains one water molecule per creatine molecule in the crystal lattice. The hydrate water is part of the crystal structure rather than loose moisture. The term is often used for the common crystalline powder grade.
Creatine anhydrous lacks the water of crystallization and therefore contains a higher creatine fraction by mass. The monohydrate is more common in commerce and research because it is stable and easy to handle. The two forms are not identical in solid state, though both yield creatine when dissolved.
Creatine is the base molecule, while creatine monohydrate is a hydrate of that molecule. Once dissolved, the hydrate water becomes part of the solvent and free creatine is present. In casual usage the names are often shortened to creatine, but the solid forms differ.
It is the hydrated crystalline form of creatine, containing one bound water molecule per creatine unit. The compound is commonly used as a nutritional ingredient and as a research material.
